FUNdamental Classes PUPPY START RIGHT PRESCHOOL (for pups up to 16 weeks old) The first 3-4 months is the most influential period of your dog’s life! It is during this time when positive proactive socialization needs to happen. In other words, creating a multitude of positive experiences for your pup (without overwhelm) to help him enjoy the world around him without fear. Puppy Start Right Preschool is a Karen Pryor Clicker class in which we introduce lots of new experiences (sounds, objects, textures and even a mock vet visit) in a positive way while using clicker, treats and body language to assure your pup is having FUN! Help your pup start off on the right “paw” as she socializes with people and other pups in a safe and supervised setting while learning important life skills. 5 week class – Rolling Enrollment $125.00 Classes options: Mondays at 7:30 pm or Saturdays at 9:00 am S.T.A.R. PUPPY PROGRAM (for pups up to 1 year old) “S.T.A.R.” stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and a Responsible owner, all of the things a puppy needs to have a good life. This program is the puppy level of the AKC’s well-known Canine Good Citizen program. Classes include valuable training tips for puppy owners – such as: crate and house training; loose leash walking; come when called; sit, down, stay and attention through distractions. At the end of the training course, the instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Upon passing, owners and their puppies will be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program and will receive a certificate, AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Gold medal and more! AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy graduates will be encouraged to continue working towards the next step in training, AKC’s Canine Good Citizen award. 6 week class- 2 options Thursdays at 6:00 pm or 7:30 pm. $125.00 “BUILDING THE BOND” Beginner Class This class is for dogs new to training or graduates of our puppy classes. We will focus on attention exercises, and cues such as sit, down, stay, leave it, come when called, polite greeting, and a few cute tricks! It is a great “next step” for the STAR Puppy graduates to proof their skills with distractions. It is also a great starting point for any dog approximately one year or older. Please remember that all dogs love to learn and this is a perfect class for dogs of any age – it is a terrific way for you and your dog to Build Your Bond! 5 week class – 7:15 pm. $110.00 CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PROGRAM (CGC) Canine Good Citizen training emphasizes responsible owners and well-mannered dogs. The AKC Canine Good Citizen program, recognizes that responsible dog ownership is the key to resolving behavior related problems which is the number one reason dogs are relinquished to shelters in most communities. The CGC program emphasizes calm and balanced canine behavior and this class curriculum focusses on the items that will be tested at the end of the 6 week session. All students must attend all 6 weeks and a test will be administered by a certified CGC evaluator. Upon passing the test, owner and dog will be awarded a Canine Good Citizen Certificate and enjoy many benefits of the AKC CGC family! 6 week class – Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. $125.00 Rally-O We use the CWAGS (Canine Work and Games) version of Rally. Rally is a fun way for you and your dog to continue to Build Your Bond! You and your dog will proceed through a numbered course and complete each sign in order. Examples of what you will be asked to do throughout a course: Sit-Down-Walk Around your Dog; 360 to the left/right; Figure 8 between cones; 270 to the left/right; Pivots The first class is without your dog so you can learn the signs well before asking your dog to work with you:) 5 week class – Wednesdays at 6:15 pm. $125.00 Canine Karma is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
